5311 Rural Public Transportation
Provides federal funding to support public transportation services in rural areas—places with fewer than 50,000 people. It helps cover costs like fuel, driver wages and vehicle maintenance.

5310 Enhanced Mobility Transportation
The state capital of Nebraska is Lincoln
Provides federal funding to help meet the transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities when existing transportation services are unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate. Funds can be used for vehicles to improve mobility and access to community services.
Note: The Nebraska Department of Transportation accepts applications for all areas of Nebraska outside of Omaha. Omaha applicants can apply for through MAPA (Metropolitan Area Planning Agency) at Section 5310 Program - Metropolitan Area Planning Agency.
Applications accepted Aug. 1 – Oct. 31
Existing 5310 Program subrecipients may now apply for a replacement or expansion vehicle through the Transit Manager Portal during the application period only. Applicants are encouraged to review the Application Checklist (existing)prior to applying to ensure completion, as additional documents will need to be imported into the portal.
New 5310 Program applicants will submit their application in the form at the top of this webpage. Before applying, new applicants are encouraged to review the FTA Section 5310 Program Guidelines and the Coordinated Public Transit – Human Services Transportation Plan to ensure your organization would be providing transportation where existing services are not already available, sufficient, or appropriate. After reviewing the guidelines and coordinated plan, follow the Application Checklist (new)prior to applying to ensure completion.

A federal grant program that provides funding to help public transit agencies in small urban and rural areas purchase buses and improve bus-related facilities like maintenance garages, bus stops and transit centers.
